4 Big Reasons to Move to Dallas

Blog The Brightland Difference 4 Big Reasons to Move to Dallas

More than 1.3 million people call Dallas, Texas home. Are you thinking about joining them?

If you're ready to put down roots in the Lone Star State, this bustling city is a great place to hang your cowboy hat. The economy is booming, employment opportunities are everywhere and there are plenty of places see, eat, drink and discover.

Whether you're eyeing this region for work, family or both, you'll want to pack your bags and settle here after just one visit.

With so many cities in the U.S., why should you set your sights on buying or building a home in Dallas? Let's take a look at the top reasons.

Job Opportunities

One of the chief reasons to relocate to Dallas is to develop and expand your career. There's no denying that 2020 has seen its share of job-related challenges, but Dallas has stood out as a shining example of how to persevere.

In fact, the city boasts the second-lowest rate of job loss among the country's 12 largest metropolitan areas for the period of May 2019 to May 2020. Some of the largest industries in this area include technology, financial services, manufacturing and aerospace, among others.

Whether you're relocating for work or just starting your career, you'll have access to the networking opportunities you need to succeed. Currently, 22 out of the largest 500 companies in America call Dallas home, making this area replete with opportunities for growth.

Low Cost of Living

You love the idea of living in Dallas, but are you worried if you can afford it? If so, it helps to know that it's surprisingly cost-effective, especially compared to other big cities.

While Dallas' cost of living is around 2% higher than the national average, this uptick is minuscule when considered in context. For example, in New York City, you can expect the cost of living to soar to nearly 130% higher than the average! Likewise, Los Angles is 43% higher and Chicago is 23% higher!

While it's true that some towns in the U.S. have a lower cost of living, these areas do not offer the same job opportunities and salaries, both of which help Dallas stand above the rest.

Excellent Transportation

No car? No problem. It's easy to get around in Dallas!

Whether you choose to ride your bike or walk to work, you'll find that the city is extremely convenient to travel on foot or two wheels. In addition, Dallas also boasts an excellent public transportation system, known as the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).

In addition to 64 rail stations, there are also 10 Trinity Railway Express (TRE) stations that connect Dallas to nearby Fort Worth, with stops in the Mid-Cities and even DFW Airport.

Charming, Family-Friendly Towns

While job growth might bring much activity to Dallas, it's far from the only reason people are flocking here. Our city is also home to many towns that are rich with family-friendly perks, from parks and playgrounds to arts centers and service organizations. Let's review a few of the top places to pick.

1. Forney

The latest big news in Forney is Amazon's plan to open its first fulfilment center in the area. Yet, if you come here for the jobs, you'll want to stay for all the other resident-centric features.

The Gentle Zoo and Forney Community Park alone are excellent ways to spend the day. If you're looking for a little history, check out the Spellman Museum of Forney History. End with a pint at Five Points Distilling, and you'll see why Forney is the sixth fastest-growing city in north Texas!

2. Fort Worth

When you think of Fort Worth, the famed Stockyards likely come to mind. However, this town offers much more than first meets the eye. There's also an incredible art museum in the area, as well as plenty of outdoor activities, including the Fort Worth Zoo and Fort Worth Water Gardens.

3. Argyle

Argyle offers the best of all worlds. It's strategically located in Denton County, one of the country's fastest-growing counties. Yet, it hasn't lost its small-town charm or family-friendly atmosphere.

From inside of the Metroplex, residents can enjoy quick access to business facilities, medical centers, retail shops and professional sporting events.

4. Burleson

Burleson has many great attributes, but it's perhaps best known for the idyllic wineries that dot its outskirts, including Lost Oak Winery and Sunset Winery.

Of course, you'll also find plenty of things for kids of all ages to enjoy here, including the Pirates Cove Fun Zone and North Texas Jellystone Park!

5. Haslet

Located in Tarrant County, Haslet is one of the best Texas towns to live in. Not only do you have access to the area's bucolic, rural feel, but you're also close to job opportunities and entertainment venues.

Plus, the public school system here is highly rated and its crime rates are low. You're also close to Cinnamon Creek Ranch, Lone Star Kartpark and other exciting outdoor adventures!

6. Heath

Situated about 25 miles from the city of Dallas, Heath is another well-rounded local town. With more than 8,000 residents, this premier residential community sits beautifully along the shore of Lake Hubbard, spanning Rockwall and Kaufman counties.

Between the rolling hills and water views, you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere more beautiful to live in the state. There is also a growing trail system in the area, as well as two municipal parks. Parents of older children will appreciate that Heath's Rockwall-Heath High School is one of the most innovative and exemplary educational institutions around.

7. Little Elm

Don't let its name fool you. Little Elm is on its way to growing big time, recognized as one of the fastest-growing cities in North Texas.

From its burgeoning entertainment venues to a diverse economy and a thriving arts and culture scene, there's a lot to love here. Outdoor lovers will especially enjoy the plentiful outdoor spots, including Little Elm Park and Cottonwood Park.

8. Princeton

Located in Collin County, Princeton is a small town destined for big heights. In five years, its population more than doubled, and continued growth is anticipated.

One of the major drivers? Princeton is currently planning a 297-acre mixed-use development, designed to bring commercial, residential and retail opportunities to the area.
